Color Cycles is a series of animations that explore the perceptual and temporal effects of palette manipulation. Each piece is constructed from static image data and brought to life through algorithmic color cycling, creating the illusion of motion without altering the pixel grid. The series draws from early computer graphics techniques while embracing contemporary scripting tools to automate and expand these visual transformations. I also built a custom tool that brings DPaint-style palette cycling to Aseprite, which you can download here. Color Cycles functions as a study in visual rhythm, optical flow, and the expressive potential of limited palettes.
