Bio
Kerim Safa (b. 1985, Turkey) is a visual artist and musician based in the Netherlands. Drawing from early computer graphics, his work explores the construction and behavior of digital images under constrained conditions. He works with low resolutions, restricted color palettes, and self-imposed rulesets, approaching limited resources as both a practical and conceptual framework within a contemporary high-tech context. His works take the form of animations, audiovisual installations, generative systems, and live performances.
Sound plays an integral role in Safa’s practice and informs his approach to image-making. He develops works in which sound and image are constructed as parallel systems, exploring translation, synchronization, and structural correspondence.
His work has been presented internationally at institutions including ZKM Karlsruhe, Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, and Gashouder Westergasfabriek Amsterdam, as well as at galleries and festivals worldwide.
