AIR is a site-specific audiovisual installation built around an inactive industrial turbine in the former NYMA factory. The work explores mechanical memory through projection and sound.
A geometric form derived from the turbine's structure rotates on its surface; rendered in coarse pixels, elemental geometry, a limited color palette. Its rotational frequency maps directly to a synthesized sound source: as the projected propeller turns, the sound shifts, creating a synesthetic system where one parameter is perceived twice. The irregular architecture of the factory room becomes part of the composition, shaping resonances and overtones.
AIR was created for the 'Space in Sound' exhibition in collaboration with Hubert Nijmegen x Stichting Sinus.
